Annie Crawford wakes her students up!  She asks the questions to bring out assumptions her students don’t even know they live by, challenges them to understand and think through what is true, and teaches them to form a foundation for their beliefs that they can live out and defend.

Why Study Apologetics?

Apologetics is a discipline of study that investigates the truthfulness of the Christian faith. This involves both philosophical reasoning as well as cultural study as we seek to understand how the truth of Christ pervades every aspect of the world and our lives.

Apologetic studies provide an excellent integration platform for all areas of academic study. In this class we will examine the ways in which the character of God and His plan of Redemption impact history, science, mathematics, language, literature, technology, law, and the rest of culture.

Apologetics also integrates well with discipleship. Students will be challenged to apply their whole hearts, minds, souls, and strength to both the ways they think and act. These courses are for high school students who have taken at least one course in informal logic.

Getting the chance to read such thought-provoking books opened my eyes to a whole world of literature to help me grow in my understanding of the world God gave us and the reason I am a Christian. Our discussions and activities were so fruitful and fun, I could take this class three times over.”

Bronwyn, student

In my apologetic classes, students will:

  • Read, discuss, and write about important texts
  • Learn “Mere Christian” theology
  • Learn how to lead discussions
  • Practice the skills needed for real-life apologetic conversations
  • Learn from other leaders in the church who visit to talk with the kids about their work
  • Interact with relevant cultural artifacts – including film, art, and other mediums – as students learn how to interpret and create meaning through form.
